1d. How can we create our digital algorithms to cultivate the ethics, equanimity and egalitarianism for the Ultimate Meta-process for Humanity (UMH): equity meta-governance?
How might we design relational processes and create sacred spaces to collaborate on the Ultimate Meta-Purpose (UMP): Equity Moonshot?
Equity meta-governance is our Ultimate Meta-process for Humanity (UMH) vision: use a constellation of virtues to co-create fair rules, fair plays, fair games, fair opportunities, and fair rewards for the benefit of all, on a healthy planet.
Equity Moonshot is a humanitarian-technological metaphor for our Ultimate Meta-Purpose (UMP) mission: co-design and build an equitable, regenerative, and sustainable future.
This vision and mission calls for exponentially scaling up collaborative and transformational learning about how to co-create a fair-free-flourishing-future for the benefit of all and for our planet.
How might we co-elevate and co-create ethical synergies between cultivating diverse virtues and the upsides of AI-enable digital platforms to provide exponential opportunities of accelerated intergenerational lifelong learning about the ethical implications and applications of the UMH and UMP?
Equity meta-governance is our highest ground of ethical development. It is a decentralizing process of aligning systems of governance across and within our families, communities, organizations, and networks to launch Equity Moonshot. This metaphor is an inspiration for envisioning how we can collaborate on these humanitarian and planetary quests.
How might we develop virtuous networks of hubs, eco-systems and beloved learning communities to:
Eliminate the political abuses of power along with #BIPID issues: Biases, Isms, Prejudices, Inequities, and Discriminations?
Build Equity Moonshot story movements to solve our complex web of self-inflicted wicked problems in the 21st century?
Knight Foundation Conference Response
The KF purpose of Catalyst conversations and INFORMED is to research how the evolving role of digital media affects the development of governance, for better or worse.
How might we:
Overcome the internal barriers and biases that prevent the alignment of the public-private-public sectors needed to foster the open innovation for collaborating on the Equity Moonshot quest?
Redress the hype and limitations of exponential techno-utopia in scaling up the mindset transformations needed to make massive systems re-designs?
Exponential organizations and technologies work for productivity and performance but they cannot enable humans to develop the wisdom of virtues exponentially.
Regrettably, we are all systemic victims of circumstance, including the WEF, to technocratic neoliberalism, amoral-immoral corporatocracy, corrupt political systems, ineffective governance, inept stewardship and incompetent leadership.
How might we tame the beast of short-termism, transactionism, and linear reductionism, and exploitative extractions of natural and human resources?
Catalyst conversations: Digital Transformation in the Arts
At Catalyst, innovation leaders use the digital transformation in the arts and the lenses of ethics and sustainability to create dissemination opportunities that have positive socio-political impacts.
Complex questions inspired by this talk (see link below)
Moderated by Roddy Schrock, arts organizer and curator, Executive Director, Eyebeam Art & Technology Center
Lauren Lee McCarthy, Artist, Creator of p5.js, and Professor and Co-Director Social Software, UCLA
Dr. Safiya Noble, Professor, UCLA, Co-founder & Co-director of the UCLA Center for Critical Internet Inquiry
How can we:
Use the arts to create new lenses and perspectives in addressing our complex webs of self-inflicted wicked problems in the 21st century?
Develop sophisticated algorithms to provide instant verification about assertions, the claims to knowledge, and opinions by providing evidence and citations that assess the degree to which online statement are true or false?
Complexify our understanding about how to address our wicked problems using the KSSS principle: Keep Sophistication this Side of Simplicity?
Deconstruct our destructive atomizations driven by the marketing breast of technocratic neoliberalism that enables the better off to do better and the worse off to do worse?
Move our digital worlds beyond the exploitative extraction of digital data that manipulate us to benefit a value chain disconnected from our virtues to co-create a fair, free flourishing future for the benefit, or on a healthy planet?
Inform people about how the megalomaniacal monopoly of capital amplifies meritocracy that gives unfair advantages to the elites and unfair disadvantages to working people?
Curtail the neoliberal hegemony of corporatocracy and linear economics that indoctrinate our mindsets to consume finite resources, de-humanizes our cultures and decimate our planet?
Create AI-enabled metaverse to liberate us from the digital mass psychosis induced by cult trances, regressive populism, self-righteous fundamentalism, dysfunctional polarizations and toxic divisiveness?
Design AI-enabled digital processes that enable us to develop our creative authentic sovereign voices in becoming open-minded, truth-seeking, virtuous free-thinkers, collaborating together to launch EquityMoonshot?
Lampoon the irresponsible permissiveness of Section 230 that enables abusive speech, and incivility that escalate BIPID issues?
Developed AI-enabled algorithms to redress BIPID issues?
Truth-seeking without the Fairness Doctrine is suffering from immoral perversions: a paradise for politicians with Asocial Leadership Personality Disorders: pathological megalomania, malignant narcissism, incessant sociopathy, and autocratic authoritarianism.
The policy of the Fairness Doctrine in the USA required broadcast licensees to present controversial issues in a manner that was honest, equitable, and balanced. Ronald Regan repeal this doctrine in 1987. This has led to a regressive decline in the fidelity of journalism and to a rapid rise in political propaganda machine distorting and fabricating truths.
The Vimeo algorithms rejected the question below. A warning was given to edit it for acceptability.
How might New York Times redress the moral hypocrisies of propaganda campaigns against artists who hold up mirrors to the nefarious influences of the shadows and dark sides of bad actors who perpetrate and perpetuates BIPID issues on social media and mainstream media platforms?
Roddy Schrock is an accomplished arts executive and curator known for his work in the field of art and technology. Since July 2015, he has served as the Executive Director at Eyebeam, to promote leadership at the intersection of art and technology. Eyebeam is dedicated to supporting how the arts can critically inform the ethical practices of technology. His career embodies the fusion of art and technology in developing innovative approaches for solving contemporary challenges.
Dr. Safiya Umoja Noble critically exams the intersection between technology, society, and race, especially focusing on the biases and discrimination embedded within digital platforms. Her preeminent book, "Algorithms of Oppression: How Search Engines Reinforce Racism," expose how search engines like Google perpetrate and perpetrate racism and sexism. Search engines reinforce harmful stereotypes and societal inequalities. Her book provides a compelling case of linking online racism to real-life violent consequences. She calls for an urgent reform in digital governance to ensure fidelity to truth-seeking and transparent accountability.
Lauren Lee McCarthy an Associate Professor at UCLA Design Media Arts and holds an MFA from UCLA and a BS in Computer Science and Art and Design from MIT. As an an artist and educator, she explore social relationships within the context of surveillance, automation, and algorithmic living. She expresses her art through a variety of media (such as films, sculptures, installations, publications, and live performances) to examine how technology impacts human interactions and privacy, using immersive and interactive experiences. She created the project "LAUREN," as a humanitarian counterpoint to Amazon Alexa.
